Kangaroo Island is the third largest island off the coast of mainland South Australia. The Island is 155kms long and up to 55kms wide, it covers an area of over 4,500 square kilometres. The Island's size is deceiving and one day on Kangaroo Island is just not enough!
Half the native bush land on Kangaroo Island remains just as it was when British navigator Matthew Flinders put a name to this untamed wilderness in 1802. And more than one-third of the Island is National or Conservation Park.
Over one third of Kangaroo Island is dedicated to National or Conservation Parks, and this pristine natural landscape is the perfect environment for an abundance of flora and fauna.
Between April and November the countryside is lush as it is the winter season and temperatures are cooler. The climate ranges from 10-20°C, with frequent sunny days.
Between December and March the landscape changes, conditions are dry and warm; the land becomes sun bleached with temperatures ranging from 20-32°C.
