Middle River Homestead/Cottages

Middle River Homestead and Cottages is centrally located on the sheltered North Coast adjoining Snelling Beach on the (approx) 100 hectare property. It is a great location from which to tour the Island - and is also a great place just to relax and explore the surrounds.

The ideal place to holiday on Kangaroo Island for couples, families, friends, and small groups. Set up with your holiday in mind - just bring your supplies, beach towels, a good book and some music.

Comprising the Limestone Homestead which sleeps up to 14 people and two country cottages Fides Cottage (the lower cottage) accommodating up to 6 people and Mimosa Cottage (the upper cottage)accommodating up to 7 people

HOMESTEAD

Most guests use the dining room as the main living area - it is heated by a slow combustion heater in winter and in summer the limestone walls keep the temperature cool indoors.

The kitchen has 2 refrigerators, a deep freezer, a gas and wood stove and is fully equipped to cater for family dining. The BBQ out on the front verandah gets plenty of use too. There are four separate bedrooms, a large lounge room and two bathrooms one with bath, telephone, T.V. with DVD player (no television, mobile or Internet reception due to location)

$160 per night for 2 people and $20 per additional person

COTTAGES

The two cottages have identical facilities but slightly different layouts. They are nearby and have a screen of vegetation giving some privacy and a sense of isolation. The cottages are close enough for several families travelling together to stay but have their own space. We regularly get groups of friends using both cottages and the homestead.

Each cottage has three bedrooms Heating is by slow-combustion woodfire in an open plan lounge and dining area, with views over the river flats toward the ocean and hillsides. The kitchens are equipped with gas stoves, refrigerators, microwave ovens. The bathrooms are designed for holidays - each cottage has a main bathroom and bath plus a separate shower (for a rinse after the beach) and a second toilet, T.V. with DVD player (no television, telephone, mobile or Internet reception due to location) this is a total escape holiday!

A BBQ pergola is close by and is shared by the two cottages. The cottages are comfortably furnished for relaxation in front of the spectacular sunsets.
